Researchers at the Advanced Materials and BioEngineering Research (Amber) center at Dublin have developed a new process—which promises to be simple and affordable—to mass produce graphene-based material, the European Commission says. The method could be used for applications such as highly efficient batteries. Graphene is a sheet of carbon that is a single-atom thick. It is exceptionally light; stronger than steel; extremely flexible, and has outstanding electrical, optical, and thermal properties, the commission says.
